If you are planning a group tour to Mason County, we encourage you to include the Maritime Museum in your plans. The Museum is happy to work with group tours of 15 or more visitors. Take a step back in time as a volunteer docent takes you on a 90-minute tour through the various exhibits throughout the three floors of the Museum. Each exhibit touches on maritime industries that shaped Ludington and the greater West Michigan area. Cost $13.00

Port of Ludington Maritime Museum & Historic White Pine Village Combo Tour

Spend the day exploring the maritime, lumbering, and agricultural industries of Mason County. Stroll through Historic White Pine Village and learn how the early settlers lived and worked. At the Village docents will share the rich lumbering and agricultural history that brought many to the area when “Pine was King.” After spending two hours at the Village break for lunch and then join us at the Port of Ludington Maritime Museum for a digitally interactive experience that will bring to life the rich maritime history of Mason County and the greater West Michigan area.

At the Village docents will share the rich lumbering and agricultural history that brought many to the area when “Pine was King.” After spending two hours at the Village break for lunch at the Mason County Research Center. While enjoying lunch guests will be able to take in several key exhibits that highlight some of our most treasured pieces of Mason County history. Then join us at the Port of Ludington Maritime Museum for a digitally interactive experience that will bring to life the rich maritime history of Mason County and the greater West Michigan area. This is a full-day tour (6 hrs)- the time allotted is as follows: Village 2 hours, Research Center Lunch 1.5, Maritime Museums 2 hours, total travel time between sites 30 minutes.

Geocaching

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.Below are a couple of geo-caches located in Mason County. We hope these caches will inspire a deeper appreciation for the region’s rich maritime & lumbering history. Have fun and happy hunting!
