French engineer and scientist Augustine Fresnel will always be remembered for developing the best and brightest lighthouse optics the world has ever known. He will share, virtually, all the trials and tribulations that led to the development of the lenses that would be named after him. Two of his namesake lenses serve as examples of the power and beauty of these engineering marvels. They are on display at the base of a scale model replica of Ludington’s North Pier Light that kids can climb up into and explore.
The museum is operated by the Mason County Historical Society, which also operates the nearby Historic White Pine Village.
